Music How do I describe the music of Soundgarden? Brooding. Dark. Majestic. Grinding. Heavy. Energetic, Riveting. Complex. Intelligent. Beautiful. Serious. I fully agree with the following quote: "They’re a confusing and contradictory bunch: too fragile and thoughtful for the leather jacket and long hair crowd, yet too stoic and manly for ‘alternative’ rockers; too rock to be pop, yet too melodious to be metal." -- i-d magazine 1994. As with the lyrics, all band members contribute substantially to the music, some songs being credited in full to members other than Chris Cornell (the lead singer). Well, as an alternative to writing about Soundgarden's music, I created a mp3 file (length: 7:08) with approximately five seconds of each and every song released on an official Soundgarden album. (I don't believe that there is a copyright problem with this, as the clips are extremely short.) I also created one with about seven seconds of each studio release including b-sides and other stuff.
